How do I know? Because I’ve been in the trenches myself. Twice.
The first time, I found myself drowning in debt that wasn’t even mine. (Ah, the joys of joint credit! Spoiler alert: I got stuck with the bill.) While the other person walked away, I was left to pick up the pieces. The second time, life threw me a challenge I couldn’t ignore—my parents needed round-the-clock care. Walking away from my business was heartbreaking, but there was no question—I had to be there for them. Unfortunately, my income didn’t get the memo and disappeared overnight.
I won’t sugarcoat it—those were some of the hardest moments of my life. I was scared, overwhelmed, and completely uncertain
about how I was going to make it work. But one thing was clear: giving up wasn’t an option.
So, I started digging into every financial strategy I could find. And you know what? Most of the advice boiled down to: “Cut out everything fun, live on next to nothing, and maybe in a decade, you’ll be okay.” Yeah…no thanks. That wasn’t me. I needed a plan that worked for my life—one that let me tackle my debt without giving up everything I loved. Because let’s be honest—if I was already homebound, I was not about to give up my good coffee and books too!
